Deux Furieuses

Deux Furieuses is a London-based duo active since 2013, playing post-punk and alternative rock with guitar and drums. The group is female-led and also has links to Glasgow. Its label affiliations include Domino Publishing Co. Ltd. and Xtra Mile Recordings.

Releases and recording

The duo’s first single is “Can We Talk About This?”, which appears in 2014, followed by “The Party Of Shaitaan” and “Are We Sexy Enough?” in 2015. Its debut album, Tracks of Wire, is produced by Rob Ellis of PJ Harvey and recorded at Bryn Derwen Studios in Wales.

Live activity and recognition

Deux Furieuses makes its first London performance at The Water Rats with The Fauns and Blindness. It also supports John Parish at The Borderline in London and Grant Hart at The Miller. The duo is invited to Wowzers Festival at London School of Economics for International Women’s Day 2014 by The Girls Are magazine, and it plays shows in Moscow and Saint Petersburg in Russia in 2014.

The band is named by John Kennedy of Radio X as one of his “Ones to Watch” for 2016. It is also featured as a John Kennedy Xposure Big One twice, invited to a Xposure One Night Stand session, picked by Tom Robinson for a BBC Introducing mixtape, and played on BBC Radio 6 Music with support from Gideon Coe. Coverage includes Q Magazine, Punktastic, The Girls Are, Louder Than War and Artrocker.

Debut album

Tracks of Wire is released in 2016 and receives a 10/10 review from Louder Than War, which calls it a classic album in contemporary terms.
