Dessislava Stefanova is a Bulgarian singer and choir leader based in the United Kingdom, originally from Stara Zagora. She leads the London Bulgarian Choir and is formerly a member of the Philip Koutev Ensemble.

Performing work

Stefanova performs with a range of groups, including Izvor in London, Dunav, Joglaresa, Village Harmony, British Sea Power and Balkan Beat Box. She also appears as a featured vocalist on recordings by Joglaresa, Balkan Beat Box, Oi Va Voi and The Ailerons.

Film and television work

She works as a soloist on soundtracks for Warner Brothers, Miramax, 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney, the BBC and HBO. Her soundtrack credits include The Brothers Grimm, Elizabeth the Virgin Queen, Troy, Ghost Ship, Atlantis and Borat.

Stefanova is frequently consulted on the sources and authenticity of Bulgarian music. In that role she works with producers from the BBC and with composers Gabriel Yared, James Horner, Dario Marianelli and Jocelyn Pook.
