Des Rocs

Des Rocs is a solo rock project led by New York native Daniel Rocco, from New York, New York in the United States. The project sits in alternative rock, glam rock and hard rock, and Rocco performs with long-time friends and bandmates William Tully and Eric Mendelsohn when touring.

Early life and background

Rocco begins performing in bars and basements from the age of 13. Before starting Des Rocs, he performs in the band Secret Weapons. That band opens for acts including Panic! at the Disco, Fall Out Boy and Weezer, and later goes on permanent hiatus after Gerry Lang’s health deteriorates with Lyme disease.

Style and influences

Rocco’s influences include Muse, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Roy Orbison, Kanye West and Queen. The project is associated with an emphasis on individuality and a sound that differs from other rock acts.

Releases and touring

Des Rocs releases the first EP, Let The Vultures In, in 2018. A later work, This is Our Life, is performed live in full during a virtual concert, ending with the track “Tick”, which points to the title of the next album, A Real Good Person In A Real Bad Place. The title and tracklist for that album are announced alongside the single “MMC” (Mickey Mouse Club), followed by the singles “Imaginary Friends” and “Hanging by a Thread”.

Des Rocs also tours with Muse, The Rolling Stones and The Struts. The project announces the Alive tour and a virtual livestream concert, with the tour set to cover more than 20 cities in the United States and finish at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom.
