Deorro is the stage name of Erick Orrosquieta, a Mexican-American DJ and producer from Los Angeles, born to Mexican parents. He also uses the name TON!C, and is signed to Ultra Records. His work sits in house, dance, progressive house and electronic music, with a strong club focus.

Career

He begins DJing at local gigs at the age of 14 and is producing his own tracks by 17. In 2011, he builds a sizeable following online, with more than 20,000 followers and over 1.5 million plays on SoundCloud, and appears on SoundCloud’s daily charts repeatedly. In late 2011, he signs one of his better-known tracks, “Big Fat”, to BIP Records, which helps extend his audience internationally.

In 2012, DJ Chuckie asks him to remix “Make Some Noise”; the remix reaches the Beatport top 50. He also remixes tracks by Steve Aoki, Laidback Luke and Gareth Emery, among others. His releases and support from artists including Tiesto, Kaskade, Porter Robinson, Bingo Players, Knife Party, Afrojack, Sidney Samson, Dillon Francis, Alvin Risk, Cazzette and Peace Treaty help establish his profile in electronic dance music.

Recognition and touring

Deorro reaches the Beatport Top 20 in electro house, one of his most notable chart achievements. He also tours as a supporting act in the US, selling out shows in several states, and plays an Australian tour with sold-out dates in Melbourne and Sydney. At the Good Life Festival in Melbourne, he closes the main stage after Skrillex and Steve Angello before an audience of more than 30,000.
