Dental Plan

Dental Plan is a group active since 2018, based in Melbourne, and made up of Cheap Domestic. The band’s name also appears in connection with older material and online contact details under the same name, but the group itself is identified here as an ongoing act from Melbourne.

Early activity and development

The band forms out of the breakup of The Calico Revolt. It begins playing in November 2008 with rough, one-mic recordings and early shows in the Worcester area. A few months later, it expands beyond Worcester to play in Boston and New York City, while keeping Worcester as its home base.

Recordings and style

In June 2009, Dental Plan records and mixes the Pants EP in a DIY studio. The release contains four songs and is described as showing the range and dynamics of the group’s sound. The band is associated with indie and rock.

Recognition

In September 2009, Dental Plan wins “Best New Act” in Worcester Magazine’s Turtle Boy Music Awards, as chosen by fans.

Later notes

The group’s history also includes the line that 2010 brings reinvention and 2011 brings destruction, indicating a period of change in the band’s development.
