Dendemann is a German hip hop artist from Wickede, Germany, born in 1974. He works from Hamburg and performs across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He is known for a scratchy voice and lyric-focused rap, and he begins his documented career in 1993, during the first wave of wider interest in German rap.

Career

He uses the name Dendemann and has also used the aliases Diggi-Dendemeier, Daniel Larusso, Volker Racho and Olaf Mitender. His real name is Daniel Ebel. Early in his career he does not make much money, and his work remains relatively low-profile compared with other acts gaining market attention at the time. He nevertheless becomes noted for guest verses, which often lift otherwise ordinary songs.

Eins Zwo

In 1997 he forms Eins Zwo, also written as 31N5 2w0, with DJ Rabauke. The group releases one EP, two LPs and five singles on a major label, and it is well regarded within the German hip hop scene. The duo later splits when DJ Rabauke wants to move in a different direction. Dendemann is also listed as a member of Mutter Natur.

Solo releases

After Eins Zwo, Dendemann releases the self-produced EP DasSchweigenDilemma in 2003. The title is a pun on the German title of The Silence of the Lambs and refers to the problem of remaining silent for so long. He follows this with Die Pfuetze des Eisbergs in 2006, then the single 3 1/2 Minuten, which includes the bonus track Dendemaenner braucht das Land. He also releases the EP Endlich Nichtschwimmer, which includes the bonus tracks Gangsterbraut, Meins and Soul da? Wohl wahr!.
