Demi-God

Demi-God is a death metal group from Loimaa, Finland, formed in August 1990. The band’s line-up includes Erik Parviainen, Tero Laitinen, Esa Lindén, Seppo Taatila and Jussi Kiiski.

History

The group records its first studio demo, Unholy Domain, in December 1990. The tape gains strong underground attention internationally and later appears as a split release with Finnish band Necropsy in 1992. In spring 1992, the band signs to the Spanish label Drowned Productions, which later becomes Repulse.

Demi-God plays extensively in the early 1990s and shifts its sound towards a more aggressive, thrash-influenced direction. It then records two promotional tapes in 1993 and 1994. Despite a positive response from listeners and the press, the band temporarily splits up before resuming rehearsals after a relatively short break.

Later activity

In early 1998, the members decide to revive the band, and after setbacks they sign to Spikefarm Records in 2001. The group then completes its second album, Shadow Mechanics, which includes material covering much of the band’s previous decade and some songs written in the early 1990s.
