Delirium

Delirium is an Italian progressive rock group, formed in 1969 under the name Sagittari and then renamed after Ivano Fossati joins and replaces singer Riccardo Anselmi towards the end of 1970. The band is active from 1970 to the present and is associated with Italian progressive rock.

Early period and breakthrough

The group begins with a beat repertoire before developing into progressive rock. Its first single, Canto di Osanna, appears in 1971 and is presented at the Festival di Musica d'Avanguardia e di Nuove Tendenze, where it brings the band immediate success. The following year, Delirium enters the Sanremo Music Festival with Jesahel. The song reaches sixth place in the competition and also peaks at number one on the Italian hit parade.

Line-up and later activity

After Jesahel and the later single Haum, which the band presents at the Un disco per l'estate festival, Ivano Fossati leaves to begin a solo career. The group releases two more albums before disbanding in the mid-1970s. It then reunites in the early 2000s.
