Delilah Bon is a UK solo artist who begins releasing music in 2020, drawing together hip hop, punk, rock, riot grrrl and alternative metal elements. Her work grows out of a punk background and is closely associated with themes of women’s safety, harassment and wider social issues.

Background and style

She starts writing and self-producing music from her home studio after touring with her punk band Hands Off Gretel. She says that experiences on the road and online resistance to speaking out push her towards rapping and beat programming for the first time. Her songs focus in particular on how women are treated in contemporary society, with lyrics shaped by everyday fears such as street harassment and drinking safety.

Her sound combines nu-metal guitar riffs, screaming vocals, melodic rap and rough hip hop rhythms. She describes the result as difficult to place in one genre, moving between contrasting personas: one more sweet and self-assured, the other aggressive and shouted.
