Defective Audio
Defective Audio is the hard house, hard trance and hard dance alias of Dom Sweeten, a producer associated with the hard house and NRG scene. He also records under the names Base Graffiti, D.S.P., Dom Sweeten, El Durangoz and Tomcat.
Career and aliases
Dom Sweeten works under several pseudonyms and has contributed to a large number of recognised tracks and remixes across different names, with Defective Audio being the best-known of his aliases. He is also known for his long-running partnership with Superfast Oz in OD404. The pair meet while DJing at gigs in Brighton in the mid-1990s, share a similar taste in music and begin making productions together after buying studio equipment.
Labels and projects
After finding limited interest from labels at first, Sweeten and Oz launch Kaktai Records in 1997 as a home for their music. Sweeten also runs Spinball Records and Battle Jaxx, the latter used for his funky hard house material. His productions and remixes appear on a wide range of important labels within the scene, and he develops a preference for studio work over DJ appearances.
Live work
Since mid-2004, Sweeten appears occasionally as a DJ and also performs OD404 live shows with Oz.
