Deepshade
Deepshade is a Wigan alternative rock group active since 2013. The trio forms in late 2013 with David Rybka on vocals and guitar, Tom Doherty on bass, and Paul Barlow on drums. Their music combines grunge, post-grunge, psychedelic sounds, desert rock, doom metal and other hard rock elements, with a dark and brooding style that also draws on psychedelic blues.
Their sound is compared with acts such as Queens of the Stone Age, Interpol, Beck, Nirvana, The Doors, Rage Against the Machine, Led Zeppelin and Alice in Chains. The band gains support from BBC Introducing and from alternative radio stations in the UK, Europe and the USA, and it builds a following through live performances across the north of England. It is also named by The Guardian as one of the hot top ten unsigned British bands to check out.
Deepshade works with UK label and management company Ambicon Music Group. In May 2015 it releases its debut download single, “Tattoo”, which receives attention from rock media and Krank TV. Its debut album, Everything Popular is Wrong, is recorded with producer and engineer John Kettle, whose credits include Merry Hell, Moko and Tansads, and is mastered by Fran Ashcroft, who works with Spin Jupiter Spin and Gorillaz.
The group is described as aiming for a fresh sound within the British rock scene, and its live show is associated with strong energy and a loud, forceful atmosphere.
