Dee Nyoni is a British soul and neo-soul vocalist associated with R&B and female soul vocal traditions. Her songs combine retro-inspired grooves, modern funk-influenced urban rhythms and layered backing vocals, and she performs with a full band.

Performance and style

Nyoni is known for a live delivery that is described as forceful and confident. She appears at venues including North By Northwest in Philadelphia, the Apollo Theatre in New York, 5 Spot Soul Food and Sounds of Brazil, as well as Ronnie Scott's and the Jazz Cafe in London.

Collaborations and touring

She supports the James Taylor Quartet on their 2005 UK tour and takes part in the Kulturalfusion University Tour in 2006, led by Thabani. She tours with Thabani on the US and Asia legs of that tour and also sings backing vocals on their album Mind Is a Rebel, released on Ndebele/Cargo Records.

Nyoni also appears as the only guest vocalist on Sam Moore's single He Won't Let You Go from the album Splendid Isolation, released on UnitedbyOne.

Other recordings

She records vocals in the Czech Republic for the only track sung in English on NoBim's album Me Steblo.

Solo work

As a singer-songwriter, Nyoni releases the album Beautiful Day on Urban Zulu Records.
