Decrepid

Decrepid is a London death metal group active since 2005. The band forms in the UK and plays old school death metal, with a sound rooted in the style of Slayer and Death covers, alongside original material.

Formation and early line-up

The group forms around guitarists Danny Price and Tommy Atkins in 2005. Mike Dummett joins on drums and Lewis Philips on bass, but the line-up changes repeatedly and the band does not find a vocalist at first. After about a year, the members go their separate ways, with Price later playing in Necrosadistic Goat Torture and Atkins forming Cold Shoulder. Dummett also plays in other bands, including Brutai.

Reformation and first releases

In mid-2008, Danny Price revives Decrepid with original drummer Mike Dummett. Cris Bassan and Marnie, both from Repugnant Inebriation, later join on vocals and bass. Decrepid plays its first gig in March 2009, opening for Nunslaughter. Steve Brennen, also known as GoatCommando, appears as a session guitarist for three gigs and records all lead guitars on the 2009 demo after Stevie Curriers leaves unexpectedly.

Line-up and background

The band’s early history includes several changes in personnel and a range of related projects and side activities around the UK metal scene. Decrepid remains associated with old school and brutal death metal, and the group continues to be active.
