Deco Pilot

Deco Pilot is a London-based quartet playing pop rock with synth-pop influences. Their sound combines electric, delayed guitars, bass lines, synthesizers and buoyant vocals, drawing on the late-2000s synth-pop revival and influences including The Killers, The Bravery, U2 and Zoé.

Formation and early development

The group forms after a year of developing their ideas together. The members first meet in Liverpool at Paul McCartney’s music school before moving the project to London.

Releases

Deco Pilot’s debut EP is This City, which collects songs about city life, self-reflection, searching for meaning and dreaming of a girl with a diamond heart. The band also releases the video track You Know What I’m Looking For.

Live work and performances

The quartet plays live with a focus on creating an atmospheric, journey-like experience. They tour Mexico and Paris in 2011, and in 2012 they share a bill with The Milk and The Futureheads at Brownstock Music Festival in Essex. They also appear at Bath’s “Party in the City” festival at The Pavilion, and perform at London venues including The Garage Main Stage, Dingwalls, Barfly and Proud Camden Galleries.

Collaborations and recognition

For the video for You Know What I’m Looking For, Deco Pilot work with director Steve Glashier, who has previously collaborated with Juliette Lewis, Kids in Glass Houses and Fatboy Slim. The band is also named by Bandcamp as one of the best new upcoming bands of 2013.
