debby friday
debby friday is a Nigerian-born, Montréal-raised artist based in Vancouver whose work spans music, performance, video art and poetry. Her output sits within electro-industrial and industrial hip hop, and she resists narrow genre categories, moving across audio-visual practice as well as composition and performance.
Music and performance
She begins in music as an internationally touring DJ, known for idiosyncratic sets, and opens for artists including Mykki Blanco and Princess Nokia. She also works as a sound theorist, musician, composer and performer.
Recordings and recognition
In 2018, she releases her first self-produced EP, BITCHPUNK. The release draws attention in underground music circles, and her work is featured in publications including Thump, Loud & Quiet, Bandcamp and Le Canal Auditif.
