Death by Unga Bunga

Death by Unga Bunga is a rock group from Norway. The band is associated with garage rock and power pop/rock, and it is identified with a guitar-led sound built around strong riffs and melodic choruses.

Releases and activity

By 2016, the group has released four albums. Its fourth album, Pineap-ple Pizza, appears in March, and the band also re-issues its debut album, Juvenile Jungle, together with the EP Fight!, which contains four new songs. The release of three records in one year marks a particularly productive period for the band.

Style and recognition

The band is often linked to retro rock and garage rock, but it is also described as having developed into one of Norway’s best power pop/rock acts. Its earlier inspiration from The Sonics is noted, while its later material is presented as more developed and focused on hooks and choruses.

Touring and reception

After the release of Pineapple Pizza, the group spends much of its time touring, especially in the United States. It gains airplay on more than one hundred radio stations there and becomes one of the most played acts on American college radio.
