Deadly Circus Fire
Deadly Circus Fire is a London-based progressive metal and progressive rock group active since 2009. The band forms after Save Addario moves to London following music studies in Rome, where he meets Paul Igoe, who has moved from Ireland to continue his drumming education. The two begin the collaboration with the aim of making music that resists the mainstream while remaining accessible and challenging.
Formation and lineup
The early line-up takes shape over a long search for the remaining members. Mike Enort, a music school graduate with sound engineering experience, joins after being found through an internet advertisement. He leaves Italy to move to London. The band then auditions for a vocalist, trying a wide range of singers before Adam Grant is chosen after arriving for an audition without a microphone and improvising with the music. Grant is the son of voice-over artist Gary Martin.
The group’s listed members are Adam Grant on vocals, Save Addario on guitars, Mike Enort on bass guitar and vocals, and Paul Igoe on drums.
Releases and sound
Within less than a year of forming, Deadly Circus Fire writes its self-titled EP, Deadly Circus Fire. The band’s music is described as a mix of raw and melodic elements, with comparisons drawn to Tool, Mastodon and Deftones. Its recorded output also includes the debut studio album The King and the Bishop.
Live activity
Deadly Circus Fire plays extensively across the UK and appears at festivals including Hammerfest, Bloodstock and Camden Rocks Festival. The band receives positive attention from music publications such as Metal Hammer and Prog Magazine for The King and the Bishop. It is also reported to be writing a second studio album while continuing to play live.
