Dead to Me
Dead to Me are a punk band from San Francisco, formed in 2003 after One Man Army breaks up. The group begins with Jack Dalrymple and Brandon Pollack looking for other San Francisco punks to complete a new line-up. The band remains active from 2003 to the present and is associated with punk and punk rock.
Line-up and changes
Jack Dalrymple shares vocals with bassist Chicken, who plays in Western Addiction. Chicken’s cousin Ian Anderson plays drums. The original guitarist Kyle, from Semi-Evolved Simeans, leaves after breaking his ankle on tour, and Nathan Grice joins soon after. Jack Dalrymple leaves in 2008 after his wife has their first child. The band then performs as a trio with Chicken, Nathan and Ian, before Nathan leaves to pursue a solo career. Sam Johnson and Ken Yamazaki later join, making the group a four-piece. Other members associated with the band include Tyson Annicharico.
Releases and themes
Dead to Me release their debut album, Cuban Ballerina, in 2006 on Fat Wreck Chords. The album is produced by Alex Newport, who has previously produced records for At the Drive-In and The Locust. Many of the band’s songs deal with addiction and recovery, reflecting Chicken’s recent emergence from rehab, while others focus on conflict and social issues, including the war in Iraq and expanding prison systems.
