Dead Posey

Dead Posey is an alternative rock band from Los Angeles, formed by singer Danyell Souza and guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Tony Fagenson. The group is active from 2016 and releases music independently at first, before signing a publishing deal with Position Music and later a record deal with Sumerian Records.

Releases

After beginning to release music in 2016, Dead Posey issues three EPs through Sumerian Records: Freak Show, Malfunction, and Malfunction X Broken Down. The band also begins releasing music for its debut album in the period described as leading up to that release.

Radio and media

Dead Posey receives airplay on rock radio with “Can’t Take Me Down”, which appears on Kerrang! Radio’s Fresh Blood and is named The Featured Artist Of The Week. Another single, “She Went Bad”, features on Sirius XM Octane Test Drive. The band’s music also appears in television programmes including Wynonna Earp, Lucifer, Teen Wolf, Cloak & Dagger, Fire Country, Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father, and The Most Hated Man On The Internet.

Live work and collaborations

Dead Posey plays festivals including Download, Louder Than Life, Aftershock, Shiprocked, and MadCool Festival. The band also tours with Theory of a Deadman, Palaye Royale, Bones UK, Through Fire, The Birthday Massacre, and Saul. It collaborates with Hot Topic on the “I Like Scary Movies Experience” feature.

Other uses and recognition

The band’s music is used in advertising for Taco Bell, Sony PlayStation, Back 4 Blood, and Riot Games’ League of Legends. In 2019, “Don’t Stop The Devil” is used as the theme song for WWE’s Elimination Chamber. Dead Posey also receives positive coverage from Spin, Guitar World and Kerrang!, and Loudwire includes “Can’t Take Me Down” among its best rock and metal songs.

The band cites Garbage, Nine Inch Nails, The Kills, Nirvana, Hole, Marilyn Manson, Depeche Mode, Rob Zombie and PJ Harvey as musical influences, and David Lynch, Edgar Allan Poe and Salvador Dalí as artistic influences.
