Dead Neanderthals is a Dutch group from the Netherlands made up of René Aquarius and Otto Kokke. The project is associated with jazz, free jazz, grindcore, drone, drone metal and experimental rock, and is also described as a Dutch jazz, metal and grindcore act.

Line-up and instrumentation

Otto Kokke plays baritone saxophone and René Aquarius plays drums. Their setup centres on saxophone and percussion, giving the group a stripped-down format that connects jazz improvisation with heavy and abrasive rhythm.

Style

The group is linked with free jazz, jazzcore, jazzgrind and experimental approaches, as well as heavier drone and grindcore elements. Their work sits at the meeting point of jazz and metal.
