Dead Fish is a Brazilian hardcore punk band from Vitória, Espírito Santo, active since 1991. The group develops its sound around intense vocals, fast guitar work, heavy drumming and picked bass lines. Its early material is sung in English, but it later switches to Portuguese.

Style and lyrics

The band is associated with hardcore punk, melodic hardcore and punk rock. Its lyrics often deal with political and social criticism, alongside personal and everyday problems. Dead Fish is also known for energetic live performances, with frantic mosh pits and stage dives. Audience chants are part of the atmosphere at shows, including a recurring call-and-response phrase shouted by the crowd.

Career

Dead Fish forms in 1991 and releases a series of albums and live recordings over the following decades. In 2004, the band comes close to splitting up, but instead signs with the label Deckdisc and releases its first mainstream album, Zero e Um.

The current line-up includes Rodrigo on vocals, Philipe on guitar, Alyand on bass and Marcos on drums.
