Dead Calm

Dead Calm is a group name used by several different acts in different genres. One is an Irish indie folk project by Liam McCay, another is a British drum and bass duo based in Bristol, and a third is a Canadian progressive and power metal band from Ottawa.

Irish indie folk project

The Irish project operates as an indie folk alias for Liam McCay and works in indie, acoustic, slowcore, folk and lo-fi styles. Its debut album, Accept, appears in 2023 and is later issued physically as a joint release on Hunkofplastic Records, Gizzmoix Records, Dying Dutchman Records, BSDJ and Semi Collective Records. A second album, Keep Moving, follows in 2025.

British drum and bass duo

Another Dead Calm is a drum and bass duo from Bristol, England, made up of Craig Parselle and Louie Thompson. The duo signs to Moving Shadow in 1995.

Canadian metal band

Dead Calm also refers to a progressive and power metal band formed in Ottawa, Canada in 1989. Its final line-up includes S.D. Carter on vocals, Dave Ray and Chad Desrochers on guitars, and Carl Gervais on drums. The band independently releases its only album, No Way Out, in 1991, disbands the following year, and has the album reissued on remastered CD by Arkeyn Steel Records in 2008.

One Dead Calm touring line-up includes former Widowdusk members Jordan Giordano on guitar and vocals, Brody Boice on guitar, Levi Lucas on bass, and Kurt Zoebelein on drums.
