Dead Air

Dead Air is a name used by more than one act, including a British electro-noise duo made up of Aaron Dilloway and John Olson, and a British three-piece progressive metal band from Leeds. The electro-noise duo releases the track or release Two in 2005.

The Leeds group forms in early 2011, led by guitarists Cal Richardson and Bryn Durling. The early line-up includes drummer Mikey Divers and vocalist Rob Crampsie, with the band drawing members from Leeds and York and building its line-up from around north Yorkshire. Richardson, Durling and Divers attend the same school and later form the group after finishing high school.

Dead Air’s sound combines progressive metalcore and related influences, with reference points including Born of Osiris, SikTh, Architects and Cynic, alongside heavier acts such as August Burns Red and Lamb of God. The band releases its debut EP, Ethereal, in early 2012. After Divers leaves, the group adds Tom Robson on bass and later Jordan Dinsdale on drums. The band also signs to Leeds independent label Big Dog Records, which plans a re-release of Ethereal after remixing and mastering by John Browne of Monuments.
