Day Wave

Day Wave is the project of Jackson Phillips, an American indie rock musician, multi-instrumentalist and producer from the United States. The project starts in 2015 and is based around Phillips as the sole recording member, with other musicians joining for live performances. Phillips is associated with indie rock, dream pop, indie pop and indie.

Releases

Phillips releases his debut EP, Headcase, under the Day Wave name in 2015. He signs to Harvest Records in November 2016 and puts out the single “Wasting Time”. His debut album, The Days We Had, follows in 2017. Phillips records the album straight to tape, as he does on his earlier EPs. He later releases the third EP Crush in 2020 and the second studio album Pastlife in 2022.

Collaborations and live work

Day Wave’s recordings include some of the earliest recorded work by Australian-American musician Hazel English, and the pair co-release a cover of Interpol’s “PDA”. Phillips also co-produces Pete Yorn’s album Caretakers, then joins Yorn on tour in 2019 with Nick de Ryss and Henry Moser as backing musicians. He later collaborates with Yorn on the 2022 release Hawaii. Phillips also produces seven of the ten tracks on Calum Hood’s debut album Order Chaos Order.

Live line-up and touring

The live line-up for Day Wave includes Henry Moser on bass, Jack Moser on keyboard and synth, Nick de Ryss on drums, and Alex Lasner on guitar. Phillips also opens for Blonde Redhead during their fall 2016 tour. He is featured in LA Mag and Billboard.
