dAVOS

dAVOS are an Austrian synthpop group from Vienna, formed in January 2004. The line-up includes Michael Ruin on keyboards, Matt C. on guitar, keyboards and vocals, and Eric Nelson on lead vocals. Founding member Gerd Hall, who plays guitar and keyboards, leaves the group in 2010 for personal reasons and rejoins in late 2013.

Music and style

The group’s songs draw on personal experiences and are influenced by Duran Duran, A-ha and New Order. Their sound is associated with synthpop, futurepop and electronic music.

Releases

The first released dAVOS song is “Eleven”, which appears in May 2004. The group releases 21 songs on various sampler CDs, alongside five original EPs, two split EPs, a vinyl 7-inch, one promo EP and two studio albums.

The studio albums are Just Like Mine and I Could Sense A Tragedy. Their EPs include What I Prefer, I Start Mourning, Tender Loving Care and My Pleasure Garden. Split releases include Cindy with Jan W. and Fruit Of Joy/Within Control with Heirstyle, which also appears as a vinyl 7-inch.

Sampler tracks and remixes

Tracks and remixes appear on sampler CDs from 2004 onwards, including “Eleven”, “In Disguise”, “Collite”, “Chase The Dragon”, “These Days”, “What I Prefer”, “Illuminate”, “Within Control”, “Vermisst Du Mich”, “Fruit Of Joy”, “Brian” and “Rain”.

Their songs are remixed by artists and acts including Thomas Rainer of L’ame Immortelle, Equatronic, Marosi of Childer, Dynamic Masters, Säsh & Magan, Torben Wendt of Diorama, Per Anders Kurenbach of Psyche, Hannes Medwenitsch of Nature Destroyed, Baerwulf, Jesus On Extasy, AndyK, Korbin King, People Theatre and Portash.

Live activity

dAVOS perform live in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Guest musicians including Paul Raal on percussion and Erich Nuler on keyboards appear with the group in live shows.
