David Newton

David Newton is a Scottish jazz pianist and composer from Glasgow, Scotland. He works under the names David Newton Trio and The David Newton Trio.

Career

He collaborates with singers Carol Kidd, Marion Montgomery, Tina May, Annie Ross, Claire Martin and Stacey Kent. He spends ten years recording and touring with Stacey Kent internationally. He also composes music for Martin Taylor, Alan Barnes, Tina May and Claire Martin.

Recognition and broadcast work

His music appears in television productions in Britain and the United States. He wins the British Jazz Awards for best jazz pianist six times, and in 2003 he becomes a Fellow of Leeds College of Music.
