David Gordon is a US ambient producer, composer, pianist and multi-instrumentalist. He works often with his brother Steve as part of the Gordon Brothers project, and the pair also co-found Sequoia Records, a label they develop as a specialist record company.

Music and collaborations

Gordon and his brother are known for combining ancient world instruments with modern electronica, and for composing music for natural environments. Their work is associated with new age, ethnic fusion, ambient, electronic and downtempo styles. Together they have released 21 albums, and their music has sold more than 1.7 million units worldwide.

His main instruments are piano and keyboards, and he also plays world drums, percussion and native flutes. He works across jazz, classical, Celtic and electronic styles.

Releases and recognition

Among the Gordon Brothers’ releases are Drum Medicine, which charts on Billboard and is described as a COVR Best World album and Record of the Year, and Sacred Earth Drums, which is presented as an influential bestseller. Several of their albums chart in Billboard. A survey by N.A.R. places them among the five most popular artists reported by alternative retailers, alongside artists such as Enya and Loreena McKennitt.

Gordon also records solo material. His solo chill-out electronica appears on the Buddha Lounge series, Hotel Tara series, Cafe de Luna 2 and Tropical Chill, and he also records solo piano pieces for the Celtic Lounge series. He is also working toward a solo release and a solo piano release.
