David Gibb and Elly Lucas

David Gibb and Elly Lucas are an English folk duo from Derbyshire in the Midlands. The group consists of David Gibb and Elly Lucas, with Gibb singing and playing guitars and melodeon, and Lucas singing and playing fiddle and viola.

The duo perform a mix of original songs and reworked traditional folk material. Using a small set of instruments, they create vocal-led arrangements with close harmonies and a dense acoustic sound. Lucas sings lead on Blacksmith, while Gibb sings lead on Jerusalem Cuckoo.

Before establishing the duo, they tour the UK extensively as part of David Gibb & The Pony Club. They are selected as finalists in the BBC Young Folk Awards 2011 and support acts including Cara Dillon, Chris Wood, Coope, Boyes and Simpson, Jez Lowe and Megson.

Their first EP, Three Children Sliding On The Ice, appears in early 2011 and receives national radio airplay, including attention from the Mike Harding Show on BBC Radio 2. Their debut album, Old Chairs To Mend, follows in 2012.
