David Forbes

David Forbes is a Scottish trance and techno DJ and producer from the United Kingdom. He works across EDM, electronic music and trance, with releases also associated with uplifting trance, progressive trance and hard trance.

Career

He has a long career as a producer and DJ, with more than 100 releases and three UK top 40 singles credited to him. His music receives support from major DJs including Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Paul van Dyk, Carl Cox, Sasha, Above & Beyond, Halliwell and SVD, and his tracks appear in the record cases and CD wallets of a wide range of dance DJs.

Forbes releases house music through labels such as Subliminal Records, and trance and techno through labels including Armada Music, Vandit Records, Reset, Oxygen, Detox, Silicon Recordings, Full Tiltin, Extravaganza, Universal Records, Dosordie, Five Am, Anjunabeats, Fenology, Noom Records, Monster Tunes, Limbo Records, Whoop and Kingdomekomekuts. He is also associated with Aria Music Group.

Recordings and chart success

He records in both trance and techno, and his catalogue includes the trance anthem Answers, which makes him the only Scottish DJ to feature on Tiësto’s first DVD compilation. He also achieves two consecutive number one positions on the Trackitdown trance chart, a number one in the techno chart, and a number three placing on the Beatport trance chart.

DJ work and live activity

Forbes tours internationally and plays clubs and events in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Ibiza, Austria, Singapore, Brazil and Australia. In Australia, he completes multiple tours, including nine interstate tours since 2002, and heads the Utopia event in Sydney Superdome for 20,000 people. He also appears on the main stage at Reading & Leeds festival.

He plays at Ministry of Sound in the UK and Singapore, as well as events such as Homelands, Inside Out in Scotland and Coloursfest in Scotland. He also supports Tiësto at Glasgow’s Exhibition Centre and appears at Nature One in Germany alongside Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten and Deadmau5.

He runs the Re:locate nights in Glasgow, Scotland, and brings in producers including Jochen Miller, Ummet Ozcan and Woody van Eyden.
