Dave O'Higgins
Dave O'Higgins is a British jazz saxophonist from Birmingham, United Kingdom. Born in 1964, he emerges on the British jazz scene in the 1980s and works in jazz and post-bop. His main instrument is the tenor saxophone.
Career
O'Higgins plays as a sideman and leads the Dave O'Higgins Quartet. He also appears in Most Wanted, alongside trumpeter Graeme Flowers and trombonist Barnaby Dickinson. His other listed groups include Roadside Picnic, The Darius Brubeck Quartet, Tommaso Starace Harmony Less Quartet and Monkin’ Around.
Early work and education
He spends three years in the National Youth Jazz Orchestra before joining Jim Mullen’s band and later moving to Martin Taylor’s band.
Teaching
O'Higgins holds professorial posts in saxophone at Leeds College of Music and Goldsmiths College.
