Dash Berlin

Dash Berlin is a Dutch trance act from Den Haag in the Netherlands. It begins in 2006 and is active as a group, with Jeffrey Sutorius, Eelke Kalberg, Sebastiaan Molijn and Ryan Fieret associated with the project. The act works in trance and vocal trance.

Formation and members

Dash Berlin starts as a project by Eelke Kalberg and Sebastiaan Molijn, both record producers with long experience in the international dance scene. Kalberg and Molijn later leave the group in 2019, then return in 2021 after a legal dispute over the Dash Berlin name. Ryan Fieret becomes a frontman from 2022. Jeffrey Sutorius also becomes closely associated with the name, and later performs and releases music under his own name.

Work and reputation

Kalberg and Molijn have more than twenty years of experience in dance music and have credits on award-winning and platinum-selling material for acts including Alice Deejay, Vengaboys, Candee Jay, Pronti and Kalmani, and Solid Sessions. Their track “Better Off Alone” is one of the early trance records to become widely known in the United States, and it is later sampled by David Guetta on “Play Hard” and by Wiz Khalifa on “Say Yeah”. They also work with DJ Sander Kleinenberg on tracks such as “This Is Miami” and “The Fruit”.

Remixes and notable recognition

The group’s production work includes remixes for Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, BT, Usher, N.E.R.D., Lenny Kravitz, Junkie XL, Röyksopp, Mylo and Annie Lennox. Their remix of Justin Timberlake’s “Rock Your Body” wins the award for Best Remix at the Dance Star USA Awards. Dash Berlin is also voted the seventh most popular DJ act in the world by DJ Mag in 2012.

Later changes

In 2018, Sutorius announces that he splits from Dash Berlin and says that he will perform under his own name. He later releases music credited to Jeffrey Sutorius, while the Dash Berlin name continues in different form. The legal ownership of the trademark then changes hands, and the group continues with its later lineup.
