Darkane

Darkane are a Swedish melodic death metal and thrash metal band from Helsingborg, active since 1998. The group is also associated with death metal elements, and it first performs under the name Agretator before adopting the name Darkane, a word formed from “dark” and “arcane”.

Line-up and formation

The band’s core lineup includes Christofer Malmström, Peter Wildoer, Björn Strid, Lawrence Mackrory, Klas Ideberg, Jörgen Löfberg, Andreas Sydow and Jens Broman. Darkane form in Helsingborg in 1998 and remain active from that point onward.

Albums and vocals

Lawrence Mackrory appears on the first album, with a more death metal-influenced vocal style. After Rusted Angel, Andreas Sydow joins as vocalist and sings on the next three albums: Insanity, Expanding Senses and Layers of Lies. Sydow leaves the band in 2007, and Jens Broman of Construcdead and The Defaced takes over vocals for Demonic Art.

Later activity

Darkane’s sixth studio album is The Sinister Supremacy. The band also releases music on Darkane AB.
