Daniel Martin Moore
Daniel Martin Moore is an American folk singer and songwriter from Cold Spring, Kentucky. After a stint in the Peace Corps, he sends an unsolicited demo to Sub Pop Records in January 2007 and later signs a record deal with the label.
Early releases and collaborations
His debut album, Stray Age, appears in 2008 and is recorded in Los Angeles with help from Petra Haden, Jesca Hoop and producer Joe Chiccarelli. The record is noted for its gentle folk sound and understated complexity.
In 2010, he records Dear Companion with fellow Kentucky musician Ben Sollee. The album is produced by Jim James of My Morning Jacket and Monsters of Folk, who also appears on it.
Later work
In 2011, Moore releases the gospel album In the Cool of the Day, which is inspired by an old in-house Steinway piano he plays during a studio session at WXVU Radio in Cincinnati.
