Dancing Years are a five-piece band from the United Kingdom, based in Leeds. Their music uses an orchestral range of instruments and moves between expansive arrangements and quieter, more restrained passages. They are often associated with indie folk, folk and acoustic music.

Background and sound

The band is known for songs that balance lyrical and harmonic detail with large, symphonic climaxes. Their style is compared with artists such as Damien Rice and Sigur Rós, reflecting both careful songwriting and a broad, layered sound.

Live work and touring

Dancing Years build a live reputation through multiple UK headline tours. They also tour in support of Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Dry the River and Jamie N Commons, and play support slots for James Vincent McMorrow, Stornoway, Foy Vance and Lone Wolf.

Recordings and radio play

Their debut single, “Here’s To My Old Friends”, is co-released on 7-inch by Hide & Seek and the French label ZRP. The single receives wide attention and airplay from Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music and Jen Long on BBC Radio 1.

European touring

The band also tours Europe in support of Australia’s Boy & Bear.
