Dan Sultan

Dan Sultan is an Australian alternative rock singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is born Daniel Leo Sultan in 1983 and performs in a style that also draws on roots, blues and country rock.

His debut album, Homemade Biscuits, is created with Scott Wilson and features a full band line-up that includes Jarrod Ross on bass guitar, Peter Marin on drums, Gina Woods on keyboards, and Steven Veale and Ben Veale on horn section. The project is noted for its range of vocals and for a hook-led sound.

Sultan receives several award nominations and wins in the Australian music industry. He is nominated for a Deadlys Award in 2006 for Most Promising New Talent, then again in 2007 for Artist of the Year and Single Release of the Year for "Your Love is Like a Song". At the ARIA Music Awards of 2010 he wins Best Male Artist and Best Blues & Roots Album for his second album, Get Out While You Can. At the 2014 ceremony he wins Best Rock Album for Blackbird, which reaches number four on the ARIA Albums Chart.

He is invited by Paul Kelly to contribute to a Kev Carmody tribute album, and John Butler identifies him and funds his debut album through The JB Seed program. His performances take him to festivals including The Falls, Queenscliff, Woodford, The Dreaming, Port Fairy, Apollo Bay and St Kilda.
