Dan Kye is the electronic alias of Jordan Rakei, an artist based in London. The name is used for stripped-back electronic releases alongside Rakei’s work under his own name as a neo-soul artist.

Releases

Dan Kye first appears with the four-track EP Joy, Ease, Lightness, released in 2016. The EP is described as aiming at the dancefloor while also carrying a reflective quality beyond club use. Four years later, Dan Kye releases the full-length album Small Moments, which is the project’s debut album.

Context

The project grows out of Jordan Rakei’s move into the London scene, where he gains attention from tastemakers and listeners and develops a body of work outside a single style. Dan Kye sits within that broader output as the more minimal electronic side of his music.
