The Canadian Dagger releases Not Afraid Of The Night in 1985 and has a lineup of Frank Ross on lead vocals and guitar, Syd Brophy on lead guitar, Danny Clout on bass and Gil Heynemann on drums.
The Mexican Dagger forms in early 2004 around guitarist and singer Gaby de la O. It is set up with the aim of challenging the lack of girl bands in Mexico and the idea that girls cannot play. Its first show takes place at a small party in the Bondojo neighbourhood in south Mexico City, where it plays metal covers. It later wins the contest “The King of the Metal”, promoted by the indie label Nuevos Ricos, and goes on to perform at venues and festivals in Mexico including Manifest 2006, Monterrey Metal Fest II, Women’s Festival at the Zocalo in Mexico City, Festival del Centro Histórico, Lady Fest Monterrey and Plataforma Puebla 06. It shares stages with The Delays, Tim “Ripper” Owens, Neil Turbin, Azraels Bane, Ignitor, Los Fancy Free, Las Ultrasonicas, Twin Tones and Yokozuna, among others. Its 2005 Dagger Summer Demo brings press coverage and interviews in Mexico, the United States, Canada and the Netherlands. Its material is described as combining seventies metal guitar riffs with punk and dark vocals. Its releases include Dagger Summer Demo (2005) and Libre (2006), and it is preparing a debut EP co-produced by Jenny Bombo of Las Ultrasonicas.
The Swedish Dagger is a hard rock band featuring former members of Dismember, Grave and Sideburn. It releases its first EP, Mainline Riders, in 2013.
