Dag Nasty
Dag Nasty is an American punk rock band from Washington, D.C., formed in 1985. The group’s early line-up includes Brian Baker, Colin Sears, Roger Marbury and Shawn Brown. Baker has previously been in Minor Threat. Shawn Brown later leaves and is replaced on vocals by Dave Smalley, formerly of DYS, shortly before the recording of the band’s debut album, Can I Say.
Line-up changes and later members
Dag Nasty has a revolving membership throughout its time together, with Brian Baker eventually becoming the only original member left. Other members associated with the band include Doug Carrion, Peter Cortner, Scott Garrett and London May. Peter Cortner also appears as a vocalist in the band’s later line-up.
Recordings and labels
The band records Can I Say in June 1986 and Wig Out at Denkos in July 1987 for Dischord Records. It then moves to Giant Records for Field Day in 1988. In 1991, Dischord combines Can I Say and Wig Out into one maxi-CD. Dischord re-masters both records in 2003 and reissues them as separate CDs, each with extra live and unreleased tracks.
Later activity
The Can I Say line-up reforms in 1992 to record Four on the Floor for Epitaph Records, and the band reforms again in 2002 to record a full-length album for Revelation Records. Dag Nasty is active from 1985 to 1991.
