Daedelus
Daedelus is a US electronic musician from Santa Monica, California, born in 1977. Their work spans electronic, electronica, experimental electronic and IDM, and also draws on downtempo and hip-hop while resisting fixed genre boundaries. Early musical interests include bass clarinet and double bass, followed by an interest in classical and jazz before rave and a growing record collection shape their approach.
Releases and recordings
Daedelus’ first full-length release is Invention, which combines a wide range of instruments, including non-traditional sounds such as computer printers, toy pianos and the Omnichord. The record also features local MCs Busdriver and Sach on bonus versions of “Quiet Now” and “Pursed Lips Reply”.
Other releases include Her’s Is > on Phthalo, The Household on Scott Herren’s Eastern Developments imprint, and the album The Weather, produced for Mush Recordings. Their later catalogue includes Rethinking The Weather, Meanwhile..., A Gent Agent, Of Snowdonia, Axe Murderation, Exquisite Corpse, Denies The Day's Demise, Fair Weather Friends, Love To Make Music To, its singles and promos for Ninja Tune, the Friends of Friends vol. 1 T-shirt EP with Jogger, and Bespoke.
