Dada Life

Dada Life is a Swedish electro house duo from Stockholm, made up of Olle Cornéer and Stefan Engblom. Cornéer uses the aliases Dibaba and Night Gestalt, while Engblom also records as Phasio and Phatzoo. The group forms in 2006 and remains active.

Career

The duo gains early chart success in Belgium and the Netherlands. Their second album, The Rules of Dada, reaches the Billboard 200. Dada Life release music on Crash & Smile.

Live performances and later activity

They are known for a comic live presentation that includes inflatable bananas and inflatable champagne bottles. In March 2014, Engblom stops performing temporarily because of a medical emergency. In September 2014, Cornéer is diagnosed with cancer and takes a break from performing. In 2015, he releases the album One under the name Night Gestalt, and later is declared cancer-free. In September 2017, Cornéer says he will stop touring with Dada Life because of health concerns, while continuing to work in the studio with Engblom, who tours.

Name and records

The name Dada Life comes from the early twentieth-century absurdist movement known as Dadaism. The duo also holds two Guinness World Records: one for the world’s largest pillow fight and one for the largest gathering of people dressed as fruit.
