Cut Hands

Cut Hands is a tribal noise project from Edinburgh, formed in 2008 by William Bennett. Bennett is the figure behind Whitehouse, the power electronics group associated with his work since the late 1970s, and Cut Hands continues his separate path through more experimental forms.

Style and approach

The project draws on Bennett’s long interest in African percussion, especially from Ghana and Congo, which he has collected over many years. Its music combines machine-driven noise with acoustic percussion and voodoo-influenced rhythms, creating a harsh but highly layered sound. The material is assembled in Bennett’s home studio over a period of several years.
