Curtis Stigers is an American jazz vocalist, saxophonist, guitarist and songwriter from Boise, Idaho. Born in 1965, he works in jazz and vocal jazz.

Career

He first reaches a wide audience in the early 1990s, with the single “I Wonder Why” becoming his best-known hit. The song reaches number 5 in the UK and number 9 in the US in 1991. His self-titled debut album appears in 1991 and sells 1.5 million copies. Another of his best-known songs is “You’re All That Matters To Me”.

Stigers signs with Concord Records and also records for labels including Arista, Columbia, Concord Jazz, Concord and EmArcy, with releases spanning the 1990s through 2020. His albums include Curtis Stigers, Time Was, Brighter Days, Baby Plays Around, Secret Heart, You Inspire Me, I Think It’s Going to Rain Today, Real Emotional, Lost in Dreams, Let’s Go Out Tonight, Hooray for Love, One More for the Road with the Danish Radio Big Band, and Gentleman.

Collaborations

He works with a range of other artists, including Elton John, Eric Clapton, Prince, Bonnie Raitt, Rod Stewart, The Allman Brothers Band and Joe Cocker. He also appears on the BBC TV programme Just the Two of Us, where he partners newsreader and presenter Penny Smith.
