Cud

Cud are a British indie rock group from Leeds, England, formed in 1987 and active since then. The line-up includes Carl Puttnam, Mike Dunphy, William Potter and Stephen Goodwin. Puttnam is the vocalist, Dunphy plays guitar and keyboard, Potter plays bass and Goodwin plays drums.

The band is generally described as an alternative rock act, with their music also drawing on funk elements. Their sound combines energetic rhythms with distinctive, often eccentric lyrics. Early in their career, they receive critical attention, but they do not achieve a wide mainstream breakthrough in the UK record-buying market.

Cud also gain a reputation in parts of the music press and among listeners for being an unusual band, sometimes treated as a joke act because of their lyrical style. At the same time, they are regarded by some as one of the more underrated British bands of their era.
