Crumb

Crumb is an indie rock band from San Francisco, United States, active from 1993 to the end of the decade. The group forms around vocalist Robby Cronholm and guitarist Mark Weinberg, who begin writing and performing together while still in high school. The early line-up expands from their original acoustic duo into a quartet, with various bassists and drummers moving through the band over time.

Early releases and major-label work

In 1994, Crumb self-releases the LP Happy Blah. Bassist Matt Powell then joins the group before it signs to Qwest Records. The band’s major-label debut, Romance Is a Slowdance, follows in 1996. Later, with bassist Jim Bowser and drummer Mike Dugan, Crumb returns in 1998 with ...seconds, minutes, hours..., its first release for Red Ant.

Style and later activity

Crumb is associated with alternative rock and indie rock. The band’s name is also used by later acts from other countries, but the San Francisco group is the 1990s American alternative rock band led by Cronholm and Weinberg.
