Criminal Minds

Criminal Minds, also known as TCM, is a hip hop collective formed in 1985 by scratch DJ Halo, Anthony Jones, and graffiti artist Chase 1, Jonathan Clarke. The group begins as a movement around turntablism, graffiti and production, and later includes rapper Iceski, Justin Swain, after Halo meets him at college in 1987.

Early releases and line-up

The group releases its first EP in 1988. In 1990, it issues Guilty As Charged with assistance from local DJ DJ Spatts, Ian Allen, who then joins Jones in production. Jones and Allen continue working together under various names and eventually produce about fifty tracks.

Notable release

Criminal Minds reaches number one in the British Dance chart with Baptised By Dub, which stands as a key release in the group’s catalogue.
