Criminal Justice
Criminal Justice is a punk group from Huddersfield. The name is also used by another band, but the Huddersfield group is the early 1980s punk act associated with local gigs in and around the town and with a sound shaped by UK82-era punk influences.
Line-up and style
The Huddersfield band features Chaz on vocals, Kitty on bass, Nobby on guitar and Brooky on drums. Their influences include Discharge, GBH, Chaos UK and the Varukers. The group’s material is identified with punk rather than metal.
Recordings and releases
Criminal Justice appear on Sane Records with two tracks, “Machines & Systems” and “Middle east mayhem”, and release an EP in 1985 on Endangered Music titled Heirarchy of Hell.
Broadcast and documentation
The band features in ITV’s First Tuesday documentary in 1985, which places them within the recorded punk history of the period.
