Creepoid

Creepoid is an indie rock group from Philadelphia. The band is made up of Anna Troxell and Patrick Troxell.

Style and early recordings

The group works with a lo-fi approach and uses raw, gritty production. Their debut EP, Yellow Life Giver, is recorded with a reel-to-reel tape machine dating from around 1956, which is part of how they document their development as a band.

The EP includes four tracks: “Rotten Tooth”, “Pink Tag Sale”, “See-Through” and “Magic Drum”. “Rotten Tooth” carries a strong 1990s grunge feel and evokes Kurt Cobain. “Pink Tag Sale” moves toward a dreamy West Coast sound associated with Mazzy Star. “See-Through” leans into Brit-pop and post-punk influences, while “Magic Drum” is a more minimal piece.

Sound and influences

Creepoid’s music sits within indie rock, with references to grunge, shoegaze, psychedelic rock and other lo-fi underground styles. Their early work is described as mixing melancholy, rough-edged production and a range of 1990s alternative influences.
