Crash And The Bandicoots are a lo-fi alternative pop act formed by brothers Callum Merrett and Ewan Merrett. Their music is built around a DIY approach, with early tracks recorded in a bedroom and later recordings made using simple equipment, homemade instruments and noisy toys, even though both members also work in separate professional recording studios.

Style and influences

The duo's sound is described as a collage of English pop influences, with links to lo-fi indie pop, alternative pop and danceable, slightly warped songs. Their influences include The Flaming Lips, Beck and The Cure.

Line-up

Callum Merrett handles bass and vocals, while Ewan Merrett performs on MPC, vocals and toys.

Their John Coles Park EP is released on the independent circuit and draws coverage from music press including NME, The Line Of Best Fit and This Is Fake DIY. The track “Emily (hehe)” also receives attention for its raw, danceable indie-pop style. The band is also noted by BBC 6 Music presenters Tom Ravenscroft and Tom Robinson.
