Cosmorat

Cosmorat is the project of Taylor Pollock. The act begins with Pollock and Olly Liu, who meet in college through a shared interest in Alabama Shakes, blues music and sonic textures. After moving to London, the line-up expands to include Lorenzo Burgio, who adds breakbeats, samples and bombastic drums.

The music combines indie pop, pop and indie rock with fuzzy guitars, vocal soundscapes and detailed drum and percussion parts. The songs use densely packed lyrics to examine mundanity, trauma and late-stage capitalism, and to consider ideas of evil, personal responsibility and moral ambiguity. The result is described as aiming for a cinematic, “sonic movie” effect through layered arrangements and emotional contrast.
