Copasetics

Copasetics are a York ska and reggae band that also draw on punk and ska punk. The group forms in 2009 as a five-piece and is active for around five years. It comes from York and Goole and plays across northern England, including York, Sheffield, Leeds, Nottingham, Lancashire, Howden and Hull.

Releases

The band releases three records: a self-titled EP, The Stark Comprehension of Life in the Final State of Decay EP, and the album Gladiators and Lions. Its debut EP is recorded after the original line-up forms. Nico leaves after that recording, and Robin from Random Hand plays trombone on the second EP. The full-length album is written and recorded over two years by Ben, Tom, Suzy and Toop, produced by Stephen Taylor, and issued in 2014 as the group decides to end.

Line-up

The original line-up consists of Ben on vocals and guitar, Tom on drums, Kev on bass, Suzy on trumpet and keys, and Nico on trombone. Kev leaves in 2011 and is replaced by Toop on bass. Sam later joins briefly on second guitar and backing vocals.

Live activity

Copasetics play all-day events and festivals in the north of the UK, including Rebellion 2013, Tramlines 2012, Galtres, Punx inna Jungle and Pie Race.
